Therapy For Men
I specialize in providing both individual and group therapy for a variety of men's issues. The first is men suffering from any kind of addiction, be it to alcohol, drugs, gambling, shopping, food, sex, love or relationship addiction, or work. I also work as a therapist for men dealing with codependency, stress, PTSD, anxiety, anger issues, depression, relationship difficulties, or are facing terminal illness and end of life issues. I use a variety of approaches in my work including but not limited to:
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
- Mindfulness-Based Therapy
- The "Minnesota Model" of addiction treatment (which is one of the most successful in the country)
- Positive Psychology
My Approach
My approach to therapy is that it should be a caring, compassionate environment to explore the issues affecting your life. When it comes to the myriad of struggles and difficulties that men face, sometimes our culture asks men to just grin and bear it. Men need a safe place where they can drop the mask society often asks us to wear and get honest about what is really going on inside with another person who understands. Often times the roles of employee, friend, father, son, and romantic partner leave a man feeling he has no place to nurture himself. He can feel bottled up or depleted. Therapy can provide an opportunity for you to get back in touch with yourself and move towards finding peace and contentment again.
Whatever issues you may be struggling with, know you don't have to suffer alone. The hope and healing can begin by simply asking for help. I look forward to the opportunity to help you build a bridge to a more fulfilling life.
In general my rates are the same as most therapists in the Bay Area. I reduce my rates for all veterans of foreign wars, as well as anyone facing a terminal illness.
I am willing to provide low-cost, at home therapy for individuals facing terminal illness and end of life issues.
